Life cycle
Mating season starts to happen sometime between spring and summer, in the evening with high tides and when the moon is full. They go onto the sand to find a partner and do what they need to do (mate) and then the females will lay their eggs in the sand. For the males to understand that the females are ready to mate the females let out a natural chemical called pheromones to let him know that it is time. They lay about 4,000 eggs each time the lay their eggs. The eggs are left there for a month to develop and hatch. Now when they do hatch they are to live in the shallow for two years. They are also the type of organism to leave its shell when they have outgrown it. Also about size, the female is 1/3 bigger than the male. And for most of their time they are searching for food by digging through sediments. They can live for over 20 years.
